Central Market (Pasar Seni)

Central Market is located at Jalan Hang Kasturi, Kuala Lumpur. It is in walking distance from Pasar Seni LRT Station and Petaling Street. It began life as a wet market in 1888. In 2004, it was transformed into tourist attraction and shopping destination. Today, it become the Centre for Malaysian Culture, Heritage, Art & Craft. The market opens daily from 10.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. Here you can do photo taking and shopping for souvenirs (batik, T-shirt, Malaysian handicrafts, paintings, postcards). Don't forget to treat your taste buds with Malaysian cuisine at the food court. You must come to this place once you visit Kuala Lumpur. Below are some photos I took outside and inside the market. KL City Gallery

KL City Gallery is located just near the Dataran Merdeka. The gallery is housed in the 115 year old former Government Printing Office, one of KL's finest heritage buildings located on Merdeka Square. St. John's Cathedral

St. John's Cathedral is located at Bukit Nanas. Its is near St. John's Institution. It was opened in 1883, making it one of the oldest buildings in Kuala Lumpur. It is more than 100 years old. KL tower is just behind this whitewashed cathedral. I went to this cathedral for Sunday Mass. I was so lucky to be here. There were lots of people from different backgrounds attended Mass here. I wish I can come again in the future.

Merdeka Square

After attending the Mass at St. John's Cathedral, we walked to Dataran Merdeka (Merdeka Square). OMG the weather was freakingly hot. We passed through old shops and skyscrapers. That's the beauty of Kuala Lumpur. It is the city where we can see the blend of past, present and future. Since it was Sunday, lots of people can be seen strolling, relaxing, picnicking and photo-taking at Dataran Merdeka. More than fifty years ago, this was the place where Tunku Abdul Rahman, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia declared the independence of Malaya. MERDEKA! MERDEKA! MERDEKA! The building is front of Dataran Merdeka is known as Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad. It formerly housed the superior courts of the country: the Federal Court of Malaysia, the Court of Appeals and the High Court of Malaya. Nowadays, it houses the offices of the Ministry of Information, Communication and Culture of Malaysia.

Masjid Jamek Area 360

If you love to stroll around Kuala Lumpur, Masjid Jamek area is one of the best place. There are a lot to see once you exit Masjid Jamek LRT Station. From the station you can visit the beautiful Masjid Jamek. Actually I never been inside the mosque but I managed to capture few photos of the mosque. The Merdeka Square (Dataran Merdeka) and St. John's Cathedral are also at walking distance from the station. Personally, I really enjoy my walk at Masjid Jamek area because I can see old shop lots and historical buildings. However, if you love quiet and tranquil place, Masjid Jamek area is not the right place for you. It is really busy here especially during the weekends. For those casual strollers out there, you enjoy strolling here. Please try to avoid walking at these area at noon. Seriously, it's really hot here. I don't want to say anything more. C'mon city wanderers, come here and experience this frantic place yourself. You'll be surprised!
