Thaipusam at Batu Caves

Last Thaipusam, I went to Batu Caves to see the colourful festival. Batu Caves is a limestone hill that has a series of caves and cave temples in Gombak district. We took the train from Klang KTM Station direct to Batu Caves KTM Station. The journey took about one hour. The train was congested with people especially the Hindu devotees. Plus today was a public holiday. The festival also attracted tourists from other parts of the world. 

Since this was my first time celebrating Thaipusam, I was shocked to see thousands of people gathered at Batu Caves. I was like standing in the sea of people. Food and clothing stalls can be seen everywhere. There was also funfare. Loud Indian musics can be heard. It was indeed a festive celebration. I was not so lucky this time because I didn't get the chance to see the devotees bearing kavadi up to the Temple Cave. However, I managed to see a group of 'friendly' monkeys and captured their pictures. That day was a very happening day.

A Day At Old Klang

Klang, the royal city is also known as Kelang. One fine that, on the third weekend of January, my friends and I were strolling casually at Klang. We took a taxi from Sentosa at 8 o'clock in the morning. The ride took about 15 minutes. The taxi fare was fixed at RM15 per ride from Sentosa to Klang KTM Station. We walked from Klang KTM station to the city centre. Klang is an old city with lots and lots of old shop lots and buildings. Walking along the rustic architectures triggered the nostalgic feeling inside of me. As we walked through the city, we saw people selling food, fabrics, textiles and clothes and clothes again. 

The traffic in Klang is busy especially during the weekend. So, be extra careful when you cross the road. The sky in Klang is not always blue. Thank God the sky was blue on day we went strolling. 

OneCity

When I came to this mall, it is recently opened so most of the shops are not operating yet. The first thing that you need to do when come to this mall is experience the spectacular view of Subang Jaya from the Sky Park. I took the lift from the ground floor to Sky Park but believe me it was quite scary since the elevator is made of see through glass. I was shaking throughout the lift (OMG!). My friend was almost crying (damn she's so scared). Thank God we survived the lift and managed to set our shaking feet on the Sky Park. The walkway is made of wood so you can travel with ease of heart. However, certain part of floor is made of see through tampered glass. Seriously you can see the what's happening on the ground floor. Do you want to rush your adrenaline? I dare you to walk on the glass floor. The Sky Park is still in construction so you can see little mess there. There is open bar where you can having some drinks with your friends. There are also a few restaurants there which serve local and non-local cuisines (Thai, Japanese & Korean). Personally, the mall is just typical Malaysian mall which has nothing much to offer except for the Sky Park. By the way, you can spend your weekend with your loved ones here.

Taman Tasik Shah Alam

Honestly, this was my first visit to Taman Tasik Shah Alam. In my opinion, Shah Alam is the most developed and modern city in Selangor. Seriously, I never knew that this beautiful man-made lake exist in Shah Alam. Along the way from Klang, I saw more buildings than trees. I kind of missing the lush trees and green hills at my village back in Sarawak. It took almost thirty-minutes drive from Klang (travel time depends to the traffic). Once we entered the entrance, I was mesmerized by the breathtaking scenery of the lake. It's a relief that we can still enjoy the beauty of Mother Nature in this hectic city. At least I can breathed some fresh air and enjoyed the birds chirping sound. The parking lot was full but thank God we managed to get a spot to park our car. We walked from the parking lot towards the lake. Once again thank God for the tall trees along the side of the lake. We really enjoyed our walk since it was cool and breezy. Along the way you can see few benches for you to sit with your loved ones while enjoying the scenery. My friends and I brought some food today so we decided to picnic here. Don't worry much as this place is picnic-friendly. You can easily found picnic spots here. While enjoying our lunch, we snapped some photos to be kept inside our photo albums. Since it was a Sunday, lots of people came here to spend some quality time with their families. Sometimes it is good to escape from the hectic city life and indulge in the serenity and calmness of Mother Nature. For those who love water activities, you can go to Wet World Shah Alam. Your kids sure love this. If you want some intimate time with your loved ones, you can kayaking together. The lake is quite big for you to explore. During this visit, I didn't have the chance to do the kayaking. Maybe during my next visit I will try one. Hey I think I forgot to tell you something. There is a floating seafood restaurant here which served the delicious Malaysian cuisines. I highly recommend you and your family to come to Taman Tasik Shah Alam.
